AN ACT concerning

Crimes of Violence - Definitions

FOR the purpose of including within the definition of crimes
of violence certain acts.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

Section 372 and 643B(a)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1976 Replacement Volume and 1977 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

372.

"Machine gun" as used in this subtitle, means a weapon,
of any description, by whatever name known, loaded or
unloaded, from which more than one shot or bullet may be
automatically discharged from a magazine, by a single
function of the firing device.

"Crime of violence" applies to and includes any of the
following crimes or an attempt to commit any of the same,
namely, murder of any degree, manslaughter, kidnapping, rape
in any degree, mayhem, assault WITH INTENT to do great
bodily harm, ASSAULT WITH INTENT TO MURDER, ASSAULT WITH
INTENT TO RAPE, robbery, burglary, housebreaking, breaking
and entering and larceny.

"Person" applies to and includes firm, partnership,
association or corporation.

643B.

(a) As used in this section, the term "crime of
violence" means abduction; arson; kidnapping; manslaughter,
except involuntary manslaughter; mayhem; murder; rape;
robbery; sexual offense in the first degree; sexual offense
