Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 43 - Health

556F.

Every hospital as defined in § 556 of this article,
shall offer a [uterine cytologic examination for cancer]
PAPANICOLAOU SMEAR FOR DETECTION OF CANCER OF THE CERVIX to
every female in—patient 18 years of age or over unless
contrary orders are given by the attending physician or
unless the examination has been performed within the
preceding year. Any female in—patient may refuse [such] THE
examination.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

Human Relations Commission

FOR the purpose of altering the number of commissioners of
the Human Relations Commission needed to issue
complaints; adding religion as a class in connection
with discrimination in financing; amending the
definition of religion; adding sex and age as classes
in connection with discrimination in places of certain
public accommodation; clarifying language; reorganizing
provisions of the law; and generally relating to the
Human Relations Commission.
