AN ACT concerning
St. Mary's County - County Treasurer
FOR the purpose of requiring that the St. Mary's County
Treasurer maintain custody of, rather than keep, taxes
collected by him; eliminating the requirement that the
Treasurer present a monthly receipt and expenditure
report to the St. Mary's County Commissioners;
permitting the County Commissioners to direct the
Treasurer to deposit money in a national bank or trust
company; transferring certain duties of the Clerk of
the County Commissioners to the County Budget Officer;
eliminating the requirement that the Treasurer reserve
certain funds for and make certain payments to the
Board of County School Commissioners; eliminating the
requirement that the Treasurer make a separate
accounting of certain funds; clarifying language; and
generally relating to the Treasurer of St. Mary's
County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as
follows:
Article 19 - St. Mary's County
139-3.
He shall [keep] MAINTAIN CUSTODY and pay over according
to law, or upon the order of the County Commissioners, the
proceeds of all county taxes levied in [said] THE county and
