FOR the purpose of specifying, in the provision excluding
members of and beneficiaries under the Employees'
Retirement System, an exception for social security
benefits.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 73B - Pensions

Section 19

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1970 Replacement Volume and 1977 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 73B - Pensions

19.

No other provision of law in any other statute which
provides wholly or partly at the expense of the State of
Maryland for pensions or retirement benefits for employees
of the State, their surviving spouses, or other dependents,
shall apply to members or beneficiaries of the retirement
system established by this article, their surviving spouses
or other dependents EXCEPT BENEFITS FROM SOCIAL SECURITY ;
but this section does not apply to any person with respect
to whose pension or retirement allowance established under
other law the State does not contribute, and it does not
apply to the beneficiaries of such a person.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

Property Tax Assessment Appeal Board — Appeals

FOR the purpose of providing that either the County Council
or County Executive of chartered counties may appeal
the action of the Property Tax Assessment Appeal Board
(Appeal Tax Court) to the Maryland Tax Court; and
clarifying language.
