AN ACT concerning

Hospitals and Related Institutions — Inspections

FOR the purpose of specifying that any part of a building
containing part of a licensed hospital or related
institution and any surrounding outbuilding are part of
a facility and subject to periodic inspection for
certain purposes.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 43 - Health

Section 561(a)

Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 43 - Health

561.

(a) The Board, or its designated agent, shall
periodically inspect each hospital and related institution
in this State for compliance with the rules and regulations
established by the Board. ANY PART OF A BUILDING THAT
CONTAINS PART OF A LICENSED HOSPITAL OR RELATED INSTITUTION
AND ANY SURROUNDING OUTBUILDING IS CONSIDERED PART OF THE
FACILITY AND IS SUBJECT TO INSPECTION TO DETERMINE OCCUPANCY
STATUS FOR LICENSURE PURPOSES. The inspections shall take
place on an unannounced basis at least twice a year. The
findings of the inspections, whether carried out on an
announced or unannounced basis, shall be reported to the
General Assembly during its annual session.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.
