regarding unfairness and discrimination in underwriting
decisions and violations of the prohibition against
unfair and discriminatory decisions to surety
underwriters.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows;

UNDERWRITING DECISIONS MADE BY INSURERS AUTHORIZED TO

MAKE, ISSUE, GIVE, OR TENDER SURETY INSURANCE, AS DEFINED IN
§ 69, ARE SUBJECT TO THE PROVISIONS OF §§ 234A AND 234C.

(A)       NO SURETY SHALL CANCEL OR REFUSE TO ISSUE OR

RENEW A SURETY BOND AS DEFINED IN SECTION 69 OF THIS ARTICLE

FOR ANY REASON BASED IN WHOLE OR IN PART UPON RACE, COLOR,

CREED OR SEX OF AN APPLICANT OR PRINCIPAL OR FOR__ANY__OTHER

ARBITRARY, CAPRICIOUS, OR UNFAIRLY DISCRIMINATORY REASON.
