ANNUAL AMOUNT OF SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS RECEIVED. THE
APPLICATION FORM MUST BE FILED WITH THE RETIREMENT SYSTEM
ADMINISTRATION 30 DAYS PRIOR TO THE CALENDAR YEAR IN WHICH
THE SUPPLEMENTAL ALLOWANCE WOULD APPLY. THE ADMINISTRATION
SHALL DETERMINE IF THE MEMBER'S SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS
WHEN COMBINED WITH THE MEMBER'S RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE
COMPUTED WITHOUT OPTION, IS LESS THAN $5,000. IN THE CASE
THE COMBINED BENEFIT WITHOUT OPTION IS LESS THAN $5,000, THE
MEMBER SHALL RECEIVE A SUPPLEMENTAL ALLOWANCE IN THE AMOUNT
OF THE DIFFERENCE.

SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

AN ACT concerning

University of Maryland — Expenditure of Funds

FOR the purpose of permitting the University to spend funds
from certain tranches on the same terms presently
authorized for certain of its other branches.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article — Education
Section 13-105(d) (2)
Annotated Code of Maryland

(As enacted by Chapter ______ of the Acts

of the General Assembly of 1978)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland

(as enacted by Chapter _____ of the Acts of the General

Assembly of 1978) be repealed, amended, or enacted to read
as follows:

Article - Education

13-105.

(d) (2) With the written approval of the Board of
Public Works, the University may spend:

(i) Any surplus over the estimated
receipts in any fiscal year from student income, except the
student activities fee, the athletic fee, and the special
