AN ACT concerning

Vans - Registration as Passenger Multipurpose Vehicles

FOR the purpose of changing the definition of trucks to
exclude certain vans multipurpose passenger vehicles;

and including certain vans as Class A (passenger)

vehicles establishing definitions for "passenger car"
and "multipurpose passenger vehicle"; providing for the

registration of multipurpose passenger vehicles;

specifying the registration fee and expiration date;
and generally relating to registration of multipurpose
passenger vehicles.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article — Transportation

11-136.1.

"MULTIPURPOSE PASSENGER VEHICLE" MEANS A MOTOR VEHICLE

DESIGNED PRIMARILY FOR CARRYING PERSONS WHICH IS CONSTRUCTED
ON A TRUCK CHASSIS OR WITH SPECIAL FEATURES FOR OCCASIONAL
OFF-ROAD OPERATIONS.

11-144.1.

"PASSENGER CAR" MEANS A MOTOR VEHICLE, EXCEPT A

MULTIPURPOSE PASSENGER VEHICLE    OR MOTORCYCLE, DESIGNED FOR
CARRYING 10 PERSONS OR LESS.
