shall become operative with respect to the industrial

policies thereafter issued by such insurer. If an insurer

makes no such election, the operative date of this

subsection for such insurer shall be January 1, 1968.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

AN ACT concerning

Automated Dialing Systems

FOR the purpose of prohibiting the utilization of an
automated dialing or push—button or tone—activated

address signaling system for the purpose of soliciting
customers or sales.

Article 78 — Public Service Commission Law

Section 55C to be under the new subheading "Telephone

Companies"
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1975 Replacement 'Volume and 1977 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

TELEPHONE COMPANIES

55C.

A PERSON MAY NOT UTILIZE AN AUTOMATED DIALING OR
PUSH-BUTTON OR TONE-ACTIVATED ADDRESS SIGNALING SYSTEM WITH
A PRERECORDED MESSAGE FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF SOLICITING
PERSONS TO PURCHASE GOODS OR SERVICES.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.
