CAROLINE COUNTY SHALL BE AS PROVIDED IN THE PUBLIC LOCAL
LAWS OF THE COUNTY IN LIEU OF ANY COMPENSATION OR EXPENSES
PROVIDED FOR IN THIS SECTION.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That section(s)
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland be repealed,
amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 6 — Caroline County

12.

The County Commissioners of Caroline County shall each
receive, in lieu of the per diem and mileage, an annual
salary of [$5,000] $8,000 [payable quarterly], and all
necessary [traveling] expenses [when traveling on county
business outside the county. The President of the County
Commissioners of Caroline County shall receive $400 as
additional compensation to that provided above] AS PROVIDED
BY THE STATE STANDARD TRAVEL REGULATIONS.

[The members of the County Roads Board for Caroline
County shall each receive, in addition to their compensation
as County Commissioners, compensation from the County at the
rate of $1,000 a year.] The County Roads Board shall meet
on the first Tuesday of each month following the first
meeting in each month of the County Commissioners of Caroline
County, and as often thereafter as the County Roads Board
shall deem it necessary for the proper performance of its
duties. [In addition to the annual compensation, each] EACH
member of the County Roads Board shall receive [the sum of
$600.00 per annum for -traveling and other expenses incurred
in performing their duties on the Board] EXPENSES AS
PROVIDED IN THE STATE STANDARD TRAVEL REGULATIONS.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
may not be construed to extend or apply to the salary of the
Caroline County Commissioners in office on the effective
date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning
the salary of the Caroline County Commissioners shall take
effect at the beginning of the next following term of
office.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.
