AN ACT concerning

Montgomery County — Proclamation of Election Results

MC 316-78

FOR the purpose of exempting certain polling places in
Montgomery County from proclaiming election results in
certain instances.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 33 - Election Code

Section 16-16 (c) (1)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1976 Replacement Volume and 1977 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 33 — Election Code

16-16.

(C) (1) [The} EXCEPT IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY POLLING
PLACES FOR ANY ELECTION AT WHICH THE USE OF ELECTRONICALLY
TABULATED PUNCHCARD BALLOTS HAS BEEN AUTHORIZED BY THE STATE
ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD OF ELECTION LAIS PURSUANT TO §16A-1 OF
THIS ARTICLE, THE proclamation of the result of the votes
cast shall be announced distinctly and audibly by one of the
judges, who shall read the names of each candidate, the
designation or designating numbers and letters of his
counters and the vote registered on each counter, and also
the vote cast for and against each question submitted.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.
