AN ACT concerning

Insurance — Protest Procedure

FOR the purpose of revising the hearing procedure whereby
the Maryland Insurance Commissioner considers a protest
filed by an insured concerning the cancellation,
nonrenewal, increase in premium or reduction of
coverage in his motor vehicle liability insurance
policy; authorizing the Commissioner to determine
without a hearing the merits of an insured's protest
and to take the appropriate action relating thereto;
requiring the Commissioner to send written notice of
his action; allowing the aggrieved party the right to a
hearing on the action; setting the time and procedures
for the hearing; providing that the insurer has the
burden of proof; and relating generally to the
procedure for determining the merits of an insured's
protest to certain changes in his motor vehicle
liability insurance policy.

Insurance Code, of the Annotated Code of Maryland be
repealed.
