(1976 Replacement Volume and 1977 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 10 — Attorneys At Law and Attorneys In Fact

40.

(r) (1) In Queen Anne's County, the State's
Attorney's salary is [$12,500] $16,500-

[2)         The State's Attorney may appoint one
assistant State's attorney with the approval of the County
Commissioners. The salary of the assistant State's attorney
shall be [$7,500] $12,000.

(3)         The County Commissioners shall furnish the
State's Attorney with an office and with a secretary, whose
salary shall be determined by the County Commissioners. The
County Commissioners shall furnish the State's Attorney with
supplies and equipment for the office, as the County
Commissioners shall deem appropriate.         The County
Commissioners shall reimburse the State's Attorney for any
actual expenses of the office, , which shall be shown by
vouchers. The vouchers shall be presented to the County
Commissioners for reimbursement.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act

may not be construed to extend or apply to the salary of the
State's Attorney and assistant State's Attorney in office on
the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this
Act concerning the salary of the State's Attorney and
assistant State's Attorney shall take effect at the
beginning of the next following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.
