FOR THE ANNUAL DEBT SERVICE ON ANY BONDS REFERRED TO IN
§3-216(E) OF THIS ARTICLE SHALL BE DEPOSITED IN THE
DRIVER EDUCATION ACCOUNT AND DISBURSED IN ACCORDANCE WITH
THIS SECTION.
(B) DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO PROVIDE FOR
REIMBURSEMENTS.
(1) FROM ITS SHARE OF THE TRANSPORTATION
TRUST FUND, THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SHALL
PROVIDE IN ITS ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THOSE FUNDS THAT,
TOGETHER WITH THE FUNDS CREDITED TO THE DRIVER EDUCATION
ACCOUNT IN THE TRANSPORTATION TRUST FUND, WILL BE ENOUGH
TO REIMBURSE AN APPROVED SCHOOL FOR THE COST OF THE
PROGRAM, BUT NOT OVER $65 FOR EACH ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUAL
COMPLETING THE COURSE.
(2) THE FUNDS PROVIDED FOR UNDER THIS SECTION
SHALL BE INDEPENDENT OF, SEPARATE FROM, AND IN ADDITION
TO ANY OTHER STATE AID.
(C) DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO PROVIDE ITS
ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS.
THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SHALL INCLUDE IN
ITS ANNUAL BUDGET FUNDS FOR ITS ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS
THAT ARE RELATED TO THE DRIVER EDUCATION PROGRAM.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 94A, §11 (b-1) and Art. 66 1/2, §6-705.
As to subsection (a) (2) of this section,
present Art. 94A, §11(b-1) provides for the
deposit in the Driver Education Account of the
uncommitted part of "{a}ll fees for the
issuance, renewal, and conversion of drivers'
licenses pursuant to §§ 6-111.1 (a) and
6-111.1(d) of Article 66 1/2". However,
"renewal" fees are provided for in present
§6-111.1(c); furthermore, present §6-111.1 no
longer provides for any "conversion" fee. The
inconsistency and confusion derives from a
series of amendments to Art. 66 1/2, §6—111.1,
without corresponding changes in Art. 94A,
§11(b-1). See, Ch. 335, Acts of 1974; Ch.
587, Acts of 1974; and Ch. 290, Acts of 1975.
This revision is based on what the
Administration advises was the original intent
and is the current practice.
The only other changes are in style.
