As to subsection (a)(2) of this section, see,
also, §21—1209 of this article for a similar
provision relating to bicycles and bicyclists. 14-105. STOLEN, EMBEZZLED, AND RECOVERED VEHICLES. (A)   REPORTS BY POLICE OFFICERS. (1)   IF A POLICE OFFICER RECEIVES RELIABLE
INFORMATION THAT A VEHICLE HAS BEEN STOLEN, THE POLICE
OFFICER SHALL IMMEDIATELY REPORT THE THEFT TO THE
ADMINISTRATION AND THE MARYLAND STATE POLICE, UNLESS THE
POLICE OFFICER HAS RECEIVED RELIABLE INFORMATION OF THE
RECOVERY OF THE VEHICLE. (2)    IF A POLICE OFFICER RECEIVES RELIABLE
INFORMATION THAT A VEHICLE WHICH HE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
STOLEN HAS BEEN RECOVERED, HE SHALL IMMEDIATELY REPORT
THE RECOVERY TO THE ADMINISTRATION AND THE MARYLAND
STATE POLICE. (B)   REPORTS BY OWNERS AND SECURED PARTIES. (1)   IF A VEHICLE TITLED OR REGISTERED IN THIS
STATE HAS BEEN STOLEN OR EMBEZZLED, THE OWNER OR SECURED
PARTY MAY NOTIFY THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE THEFT OR
EMBEZZLEMENT. HOWEVER, AN EMBEZZLEMENT MAY NOT BE
REPORTED UNTIL A WARRANT FOR THE ARREST OF THE PERSON
CHARGED WITH THE EMBEZZLEMENT HAS BEEN ISSUED. (2)   EVERY PERSON WHO HAS GIVEN NOTICE UNDER
THIS SUBSECTION SHALL NOTIFY THE ADMINISTRATION OF A
RECOVERY OF THE VEHICLE. (C)   RECORDS OF ADMINISTRATION; WEEKLY LISTS. THE ADMINISTRATION SHALL MAINTAIN AND APPROPRIATELY
INDEX CUMULATIVE PUBLIC RECORDS OF STOLEN OR EMBEZZLED
VEHICLES REPORTED TO IT UNDER THIS SECTION. (D)   SUSPENSION OF REGISTRATION. THE ADMINISTRATION MAY SUSPEND THE REGISTRATION OF
A VEHICLE WHOSE THEFT OR EMBEZZLEMENT IS REPORTED TO IT
UNDER THIS SECTION. UNTIL THE ADMINISTRATION LEARNS OF
THE RECOVERY OF THE VEHICLE OR THAT THE REPORT OF ITS
THEFT OR EMBEZZLEMENT WAS ERRONEOUS, IT MAY NOT ISSUE A
CERTIFICATE OF TITLE FOR THE VEHICLE. REVISOR'S NOTE:. This section presently appears as
Art. 66 1/2, §4-105. In subsection (a) of this section, the present
references to a "sheriff" or "chief of police"
are deleted as unnecessary since they are
encompassed within the term "police officer",
as defined in §11—147 of this article. As to
