792 LAWS OF MARYLAND Ch. 14
of this section: by present definition,
"commercial motor vehicle" would include a
truck, tractor which, under §13-923 of this
subtitle, is a Class F vehicle; similarly, the
definition expressly includes trailers and
semitrailers which, under §13-926 of this
subtitle, are Class G vehicles. If ever there
was a need for a term and definition as
misleading as that for "commercial motor
vehicle", to include motor vehicles, trailers,
and semitrailers, that need no longer exists.
In subsection (b) of this section and
throughout this subtitle, present references
to the "load" of a vehicle are deleted as
superfluous in light of the definition of
"gross weight" in §11-126 of this article.
Also in subsection (b), the present references
to chassis and battery weight of "less than
2,500" and "over 9,001" are corrected to read
"2,500 or less" and "over 9,000",
respectively. As presently worded, there
would be no specified fee for weights of 2,500
and 9,001 pounds exactly.
13-918 13-917. SAME - TRUCK NOT EXCEEDING 3/4 TON
CAPACITY.
NOTWITHSTANDING §13-917(B) § 13-916(B) OF THIS
SUBTITLE, FOR ANY CLASS E (TRUCK) VEHICLE WITH A 3/4 TON
OR LESS MANUFACTURER'S RATED CAPACITY OR LESS, THE ANNUAL
REGISTRATION FEE IS $25.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 66 1/2,
§3-806(b).
13-919 13-918. SAME - TRUCK-TRAILER COMBINATIONS.
IF A CLASS E (TRUCK) VEHICLE IS CONSTRUCTED FOR
TOWING A TRAILER AND IF THE GROSS WEIGHT OF THAT
COMBINATION OF VEHICLES IS MORE THAN 55,000 FOUNDS, THE
CLASS E (TRUCK) VEHICLE:
(1) MAY BE REGISTERED UNDER §13-917 §13-916 OF THIS
SUBTITLE FOR 73,280 POUNDS MAXIMUM GROSS WEIGHT, AND MAY
BE SO OPERATED IN COMBINATION WITH A REGISTERED TRAILER
WITH TWO OR MORE AXLES; AND
(2) SHALL BE LIMITED TO 55,000 POUNDS GROSS WEIGHT
WHEN NOT OPERATING IN COMBINATION WITH A REGISTERED
TRAILER WITH TWO OR MORE AXLES.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the last
sentence of Art. 66 1/2, §3-806(a).
