HEIGHT RESTS ON THE TOWING VEHICLE.
(B) "TRAILER" DOES NOT INCLUDE A POLE TRAILER.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66 1/2, §1-203.
The only changes are in style.
As to a combination of a truck tractor,
semitrailer, and trailer, see §24—104.1(e) of
this article.
11-170. TRAVEL TRAILER.
"TRAVEL TRAILER" MEANS A VEHICLE THAT:
(1) IS MOUNTED ON WHEELS;
(2) IS OF SUCH A SIZE AND WEIGHT AS NOT TO REQUIRE
ANY SPECIAL HIGHWAY MOVEMENT PERMIT WHEN TOWED BY A
MOTOR VEHICLE;
(3) IS DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED PRIMARILY TO
PROVIDE TEMPORARY LIVING QUARTERS FOR RECREATIONAL,
CAMPING, OR TRAVEL USE; AND
(4) IS NO LONGER THAN 35 FEET.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
from Art. 66 1/2, §1-204.1.
In item (4) of this section, the present
phrase "when factory-equipped for road use" is
deleted as misleading and, in any event,
unnecessary. The length limitation is
important — and, therefore, retained — only to
distinguish between this vehicle and a "mobile
home" for purposes of the excise tax
exemptions; §13—810(a) expressly exempts
"mobile homes" only if they are over 35 feet
long.
The present 8-feet width limitation is deleted
as unnecessary since it is covered adequately
by item (2) of this section, which implicitly
incorporates the same width limitations of
§24-102 of this article.
The only other changes are in style.
11-171. TRUCK.
"TRUCK" MEANS A MOTOR VEHICLE THAT IS DESIGNED,
USED, OR MAINTAINED PRIMARILY TO CARRY PROPERTY.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66 1/2, §1-205.
