LAWS OF MARYLAND
OR DRAWN ON ANY ROCK OR OTHER NATURAL FEATURE; (3)   IS ERECTED OR MAINTAINED IN A WAY THAT: (I) OBSCURES OR OTHERWISE INTERFERES WITH
THE EFFECTIVENESS OF AN OFFICIAL TRAFFIC SIGN, SIGNAL, OR
DEVICE; OR (II) OBSTRUCTS OR INTERFERES WITH A DRIVER'S
VIEW OF APPROACHING, MERGING, OR INTERSECTING TRAFFIC; OR (4)   IS LOCATED WITHIN 250 FEET OF ANY PUBLIC PARK,
PUBLIC FOREST, PLAYGROUND, OR CEMETERY THAT IS ADJACENT TO A FEDERAL-AID PRIMARY HIGHWAY. REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language that
combines without substantive change Art. 89B,
§252(a) and (c)(1). As to item (1) of     this section, see, also, §21-205 of this     article. As to item (2) of this section, see,   also, §5—407 of the Natural
Resources Article. The General Assembly sight want to compare the
provisions of this section as to Federal—Aid
Primary Highways with the similar, but not
fully consistent, provisions of §8-716 of this
subtitle as to all highways generally.
Compare, e.g., subsection (3)(ii) of this
section, which prohibits any sign on a
Federal—Aid Primary Highway if it "obstructs
or interferes with a driver's view of
approaching, merging, or intersecting
traffic"; with §8-716(a)(2), which prohibits
any sign on any State highway if the sign
"might affect adversely the safety of public
travel...by dangerously obstructing the clear
view of the highway by the driver of a motor
vehicle". In any event, those provisions of
this section that relate to safety might well
be considered for transfer to §8-716 so that
they apply to all State highways and not
merely Federal-Aid Primary Highways. 8-731. SIZE OF SIGNS. (A)   GENERAL RULE. THE SIZE OF AN OUTDOOR SIGN ALONG OR NEAR A
FEDERAL-AID PRIMARY HIGHWAY SHALL CONFORM TO THE
LIMITATIONS SPECIFIED IN THIS SECTION. (B)   MANNER OF MEASUREMENT. FOR PURPOSES OF THIS SECTION, THE AREA OF A SIGN
SHALL BE MEASURED BY ANY COMBINATION OF THE SMALLEST
SQUARE, RECTANGLE, TRIANGLE, OR CIRCLE THAT WILL
