(Senate Joint Resolution 59)
A Senate Joint Resolution concerning
Maryland Historical Society
FOR the purpose of requesting the Board of Public Works
to enter into an agreement with the Maryland
Historical Society for the financing of certain
publications about the history of the State of
Maryland.
WHEREAS, The 1969 Legislative Council of Maryland
adopted a Resolution requesting the Board of Public Works
to enter into an agreement with the Maryland Historical
Society for the writing, publication, and distribution of
a complete history of Maryland; and
WHEREAS, The General Assembly of Maryland
appropriated funds to the Board of Public Works in order
to finance the publication of a history of the State; and
WHEREAS, These funds were provided by the Board of
Public Works to the Maryland Historical Society for that
purpose, contingent upon the repayment of the funds to
the Board from the proceeds of the sale of a history of
Maryland; and
WHEREAS, The History of Maryland has now been
published and proceeds from the sale of this publication
are now available for repayment to the Board of Public
Works; and
WHEREAS, The General Assembly of Maryland wishes to
encourage the publication of other works about the
history of the State of Maryland; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the Board of Public Works is requested to enter into an
appropriate agreement with the Maryland Historical
Society whereby the proceeds from the sale of the History
