3720 JOINT RESOLUTIONS
Movie Theatre - Student Rates
FOR the purpose of urging Maryland movie theatre owners
to study the feasibility of instituting student
rates.
The Maryland movie theatres offer a valuable and
varied program of entertainment to the citizens of
Maryland and it is recognized that a large number of
potential theatre goers exist among the young students of
Maryland.
These students are presently treated as adults when
it comes to paying full price for admission but are
treated as minors when it comes to a censor's
determination of the picture content.
In a period of ever increasing prices it is more and
more difficult for these young, unemployed or part-time
employed students to regularly afford the present price
of the many good movies now available at local theatres.
It. is possible that one solution to alleviating the
present juvenile crime problem and to keep many of our
young people occupied is to permit them to spend an
increased amount of time at our local theatres; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the Maryland movie theatre owners are urged to study the
feasibility of instituting student rates; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to
