(Senate Joint Resolution 55)
A Senate Joint Resolution concerning
Potomac River - Hunting and Fishing
FOR the purpose of permitting hunting and trapping
fishing along the northern shoreline of the Potomac
River between Washington and Cumberland under
certain conditions.
WHEREAS, The Potomac River is one of Maryland's
richest natural resources both economically and
recreationally and should provide full utilization by the
citizens of Maryland; and
WHEREAS, Outdoorsmen have had unobstructed access to
the Potomac River for hunting and trapping since early
colonial days; and
WHEREAS, The northern shoreline of the Potomac River
between Washington and Cumberland has been closed to
hunting and trapping fishing since 1971 with the
enactment of PL91—664 creating the C&O National
Historical Park; and
WHEREAS, The U. S. Congress will be considering in
this session a proposed Potomac National River Bill or
bills which would include the C&O National Historical
Park; now, therefore, be it
