LAWS OF MARYLAND
Worcester County to charge licensees for the
purchase of wines and liquors 85 a certain percent
of the retail price or any sale price, whichever is
lower, set by the Board for the wines and liquors;
including Worcester County among those counties in
which the county liquor dispensaries may sell any
alcoholic beverages; deleting a certain prohibition
on the liquor control board; prohibiting the board
from selling alcoholic beverages at a certain price;
making a certain exception for light wine;
clarifying language; and making this bill an
emergency measure; AND GENERALLY RELATING TO
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES IN WORCESTER COUNTY. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, Article 2B — Alcoholic Beverages Section 19(y)(6), 20(m-1), 21(j), and 39B-1, 161(a), and 163 (1)
Annotated Code of Maryland (1976 Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement, as
amended by Chapter 886 of the Acts of 1976)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 19(y)(6), 20 (m-1), 21(j), and
39B-1, 161(a), and 163(1) of Article 2B - Alcoholic
Beverages, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1976
Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement, as amended by
Chapter 886 of the Acts of 1976) be and they are hereby
repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read as
follows: Article 2B - Alcoholic Beverages 19. (y) (6) All licensees shall purchase all wines
and liquors, EXCEPT LIGHT WINE, from the liquor control
board for Worcester County. They shall be charged 85
percent of the retail price OR ANY SALE PRICE, WHICHEVER
IS LOWER, set by the board for the wines and liquors.
THE BOARD MAY NOT SELL THOSE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT A
PRICE WHICH IS LESS THAN 10 PERCENT ABOVE THE, COST OF THE
MERCHANDISE TO THE WHOLESALERS. 20. (m-1) In Worcester County the annual fee for [such
a] THIS license [shall be two hundred fifty dollars
($250.00)] IS $250. [Such a] THIS license may be
obtained by (1) any bona fide golf, tennis or swimming
club used in conjunction with a country club excluding
miniature golf courses operating in Worcester County,
having been incorporated for a period of not less than
one [(1)] year prior to the time of making application
for [such a] THIS license, and having a bona fide
membership of not less than [one hundred (100)] 100
