Code, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Replacement
Volume and 1976 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed
and reenacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
Article 48A - Insurance Code
15.
(1) The Commissioner shall be appointed FOR A SIX
YEAR TERM by [the Secretary of Licensing and Regulation,
with the approval of] the Governor [, and shall serve at
the pleasure of the Secretary] BY THE GOVERNOR FOR A SIX
YEAR TERM WITH THE ADVICE AND CONSENT OF THE SENATE TO
SERVE AT THE PLEASURE OF THE GOVERNOR.
(2) The Commissioner [shall], upon entering the
performance of his duties, SHALL be covered by a surety
bond in accordance with the provisions of §§ 46 through
50 of Article 78A of the Annotated Code of Maryland.
(3) The Commissioner shall receive compensation as
provided in the STATE budget.
(4) THE COMMISSIONER SHALL DEVOTE FULL TIME TO HIS
DUTIES.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.
