MARVIN MANDEL, Governor                               3279 Public Education, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1975
Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) to read as
follows: Article 77 - Public Education 56E. (A)    IN THE COUNTIES ENUMERATED IN THIS SECTION THE
COUNTY BOARDS OF EDUCATION SHALL CONTRACT WITH
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS FOR BUSES AND OPERATORS REQUIRED
TO TRANSPORT STUDENTS OR TEACHERS. EACH OF THESE
COUNTIES MAY OWN NOT MORE THAN TEN BUSES. IN THESE
COUNTIES THE USE OF INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS DOES NOT
AFFECT THE AMOUNT OF STATE FUNDS PROVIDED FOR SCHOOL BUS
TRANSPORTATION. (B)    (1) THIS SECTION APPLIES TO THE FOLLOWING
COUNTIES: (2)    CALVERT COUNTY (3)    CAROLINE COUNTY (4)    CHARLES COUNTY. HOWEVER, THIS COUNTY
MAY NOT OWN MORE THAN FOUR BUSES EXCLUDING ANY VEHICLE
USED PRIMARILY TO TRANSPORT HANDICAPPED STUDENTS OR
ATHLETIC TEAMS. (5)    DORCHESTER COUNTY (6)    QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY (7)    ST. MARY'S COUNTY (8)    TALBOT COUNTY (9)    WORCESTER COUNTY
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977. Approved May 26, 1977.
