MARVIN MANDEL, Governor
auxiliary police officers in Dorchester County; and
providing that the Board of County Commissioners of
Dorchester County shall have power to make rules as
to selection, training, and other matters pertaining
to the auxiliary police officers. BY adding to The Public Local Laws of Dorchester County
Section 20-7 Article 10 - Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1974 Edition, as amended)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 20-7 be and it is hereby added
to the Public Local Laws of Dorchester County being
Article 10 of the Public Local Laws of Maryland (1974
Edition, as amended) to read as follows: Article 10 20-7. (A) THE SHERIFF SHALL HAVE POWER TO APPOINT
VOLUNTEER AUXILIARY POLICE OFFICERS TO SERVE AS
LAW-ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS AT VARIOUS SCHOOL AND OTHER
CIVIC FUNCTIONS. THE AUXILIARY POLICE OFFICERS SHALL BE
VOLUNTEERS AND WILL BE ASSIGNED TO ASSIST THE SHERIFF,
BAILIFFS, AND OTHER POLICE FORCES IN THE COUNTY. THEIR
DUTIES WILL BE TO PROTECT PERSONS AND PROPERTY AT THE
SCHOOL AND OTHER CIVIC FUNCTIONS. (B) THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHALL HAVE FULL POWER TO MAKE RULES AND REGULATIONS REGARDING THE AUXILIARY POLICE OFFICERS, INCLUDING SUCH MATTERS AS CRITERIA FOR SELECTION, COMPENSATION, IF ANY, POWERS, TRAINING, EQUIPMENT, AND NUMBER OF AUXILIARY POLICE
OFFICERS.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977. Approved May 26, 1977.
