MARVIN MANDEL, Governor                           3135 upon payment of a fee of one dollar shall be registered.
Provided further that any osteopathic physician or
physicians, who may have registered previous to the
enactment of this amendment without having obtained a
license from the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners
shall apply for and be granted a license within sixty
days from the enactment of this amendment or be debarred
from further practice, and be subject to the penalties as
provided in Section 477 of this article. ] Any citizen
of Maryland, having information which causes him to
believe that any person is wrongfully and improperly
practicing as an osteopath without having obtained a
license from the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners as
provided for in this subtitle, may apply by petition to
the Circuit Court of Baltimore City, or the circuit court
[of] FOR the county [wherein said] IN WHICH THE
osteopathic physician is practicing without having
obtained a license as required by this subtitle[, which].
THE petition shall be under oath and shall state that the
petitioner is informed and believes that the person named
therein is improperly and wrongfully practicing as an
osteopath without having obtained a license from the
State Board of Osteopathic Examiners of Maryland, as
required by this subtitle, and that said petitioner prays
that the name of such person shall be stricken from the
registry of osteopathy as kept by the Clerk of the
Circuit Court of Baltimore City or the circuit court of
the county. SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That new
Section 477 be and it is hereby added to Article 43 —
Health, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971
Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) to read as
follows: Article 43 - Health 477. IN THIS SUBTITLE, "OSTEOPATHY" MEANS A COMPLETE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY UTILIZING ALL METHODS OF DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT AND PLACING SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM IN HEALTH
AND DISEASE. THE LICENSE PROVIDED FOR IN THIS SUBTITLE SHALL AUTHORIZE THE HOLDER TO PRACTICE BY MANIPULATIONS ONLY.
SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977. Approved May 26, 1977.
