(2) THE ADMINISTRATION MAY:
(I) SUBJECT TO THE STATE EMPLOYEES'
RETIREMENT LAW, PARTICIPATE IN THE STATE EMPLOYEES'
RETIREMENT SYSTEM ON TERMS AND CONDITIONS MUTUALLY
ACCEPTABLE TO THE ADMINISTRATION AND THE SYSTEM; AND
(II) ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN AN INDEPENDENT
SYSTEM OF PENSIONS AND RETIREMENT BENEFITS FOR ITS
EMPLOYEES.
(C) AUTHORITY OF SECRETARY.
THE ADMINISTRATOR MAY APPOINT AND REMOVE ALL
EMPLOYEES OF THE ADMINISTRATION, SUBJECT TO THE RULES OF
PROCEDURE AND STANDARDS THAT THE SECRETARY ADOPTS.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 64B, § 8(k) and (1) and the last sentence
of Art. 64B, §6(b).
Present references to "offices" and "officers"
are deleted as obsolete; in this regard, see
General Revisor's Note to this title. Also,
the present phrases "as it deems necessary"
and "in its discretion" are deleted as
unnecessary.
The only other changes are in style.
As to the exercise of the powers granted by
this section, see §7-203(b) of this subtitle.
The State Employees' Retirement Law, referred
to in subsection (b) of this section, is
Article 73B.

7-207. SECURITY FORCE.
(A) POWER TO MAINTAIN.
THE ADMINISTRATION MAY CONTRACT FOR OR PROVIDE AND
MAINTAIN A SECURITY FORCE FOR THE PURPOSES OF PROTECTING
PERSONS AND PROPERTY AND OTHERWISE PRESERVING AND
PROTECTING THE PUBLIC PEACE, HEALTH, AND SAFETY AS TO THE
TRANSIT FACILITIES AND OTHER PROPERTY OWNED, LEASED,
OPERATED, OR OTHERWISE CONTROLLED BY THE ADMINISTRATION.
