AN ACT concerning
Maryland Harness Racing Commission
FOR the purpose of establishing a Maryland Harness Racing
Commission to have jurisdiction over trotting and
pacing racing in the State; authorizing licensing of
harness racing tracks; providing for the regulation
of harness racing in this State; and generally
relating to harness racing and the Maryland Harness
Racing Commission.
By adding
New Article 78C - Maryland Harness Racing Commission
Section 1 through 25, inclusive

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Article 78C - Maryland Harness Racing
Commission, Sections 1 through 25, inclusive, be and they
are hereby added to the Annotated Code of Maryland (1975
Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 78C - MARYLAND HARNESS RACING COMMISSION
1.
(A) IN THIS ARTICLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE
MEANINGS INDICATED.
(B) "COMMISSION" MEANS THE MARYLAND HARNESS RACING
COMMISSION.
(C) "COMMISSIONER" MEANS A MEMBER OF THE MARYLAND
HARNESS RACING COMMISSION.
(D) "HARNESS RACING", "HARNESS RACES", "HARNESS
HORSE RACING", OR "TROTTING AND PACING RACES" MEANS ANY
RACING OF HORSES IN WHICH THE HORSES COMPETING OR
PARTICIPATING ARE HARNESSED TO A SULKY, CARRIAGE OR
SIMILAR VEHICLE AND ARE NOT MOUNTED BY A JOCKEY.
