MARVIN MANDEL, Governor                           2557
his advice or service as an attorney at law without
having been admitted to the bar agreeably to the
provisions of this article [shall be] IS guilty of a
misdemeanor, and upon conviction [thereof shall be] IS
liable to a fine of not more than one hundred dollars, or
confinement in jail for not more than thirty days, or
both fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the
court. (B) (1) THIS SECTION DOES NOT EAR AN ATTORNEY
DULY ADMITTED TO THE HIGHEST COURT OF A STATE OTHER THAN MARYLAND ANOTHER STATE, DISTRICT, OR TERRITORY OF THE UNITED STATES FROM ACTING AS CORPORATE HOUSE COUNSEL IN THE STATE Of MARYLAND SO LONG AS THE ACTIVITIES OF SUCH
CORPORATE HOUSE COUNSEL WITHIN THE STATE OF MARYLAND ARE
LIMITED TO THE GIVING OF ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE TO THE
CORPORATION FOR WHICH THAT ATTORNEY IS EMPLOYED AND DO
NOT INCLUDE APPEARANCES IN THE COURTS, STATE AGENCIES, OR
COMMISSIONS OF THIS STATE. (2)        THE ATTORNEY IS SUBJECT TO THE DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDINGS UNDER THE BV RULES (DISCIPLINE AND INACTIVE STATUS OF ATTORNEYS) OF THE MARYLAND RULES OF PROCEDURE.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.
