SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
MARYLAND, That Sections 27-105(a) and (c) of Article --
Transportation, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (As
enacted by Chapter ___ of the Acts of the General
Assembly of 1977) be and they are hereby repealed and
reenacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

27-105.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
(a) On conviction of any person for a violation of
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
any of the provisions of the Maryland vehicle law that
regulated the weight of vehicles on highways, BRIDGES, OR
CULVERTS, fines shall be imposed as provided in this
section.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
(c)
|
|
|
|
|
|
(1) For the first 5,000 pounds of a weight
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
violation over its registered weight or over any
statutory OR POSTED weight limit, the fine is the greater
of:
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
(i) 2 cents for each pound of excess
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
weight; or
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
(ii) $20.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
(2) For a weight violation of a vehicle in
excess of 5,000 pounds over its registered weight or over
any statutory OR POSTED weight limit, the fine is 6 cents
for each additional pound of excess weight over 5,000
pounds.
SECTION 1, BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 27-101(g) be and it is hereby
added to Article - Transportation, of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (as enacted by Chapter 14 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of 1977) to read as follows:
