MARVIN MANDEL, Governor                            2261 Annotated Code of Maryland (1976 Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 29(c) of Article 32 - Dentistry,
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1976 Replacement
Volume and 1976 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed
and reenacted, with amendments, to read as follows: Article 32 - Dentistry 29. (c) (1) The Board may issue a "temporary
license" to a person to practice dental hygiene, as if
she or he possessed a regular license, if she or he meets
the qualifications established by the Board and has a
license to practice dental hygiene in one of the states
of the United States or any of its territories,
districts, or possessions, or in any province of the
Dominion of Canada. The temporary license is valid only
until ANNOUNCEMENT OF the results of next Board
examinations [are announced] and ISSUANCE OF licenses
[are issued thereunder, ] IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RESULTS,
at which time the temporary license issued [prior
thereto] BEFORE THE EXAMINATION automatically expires[;
but]. HOWEVER, if the temporary license was issued
within thirty days of the next following Board
examination, it [shall] DOES not expire until the second
following Board examination. Each application must be
accompanied by a $10 fee [of ten dollars ($10.00)]. (2) THE BOARD MAY ADOPT RULES AND REGULATIONS TO EXEMPT FROM ALL OR ANY PART OF THE EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS AN APPLICANT WHO HAS GRADUATED
FROM AN INSTITUTION FOR THE EDUCATION OF CENTAL
HYGIENISTS THAT THE BOARD APPROVES AND HAS BEEN LICENSED
TO PRACTICE AS A DENTAL HYGIENIST IN ANOTHER STATE.
SECTION 2. AND BE
shall take effect July 1 Approved May 17, 1977.
IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
