the employee's accrued sick leave for the first 12 months
following such an injury, provided that the Secretary of
the Department of Personnel shall determine if the injury
for which the leave was taken by the employee is an
injury which occurred in the discharge of the performance
of the employee as a firefighter OR STATE POLICEMAN.
(H) LEAVE USED BY A STATE POLICEMAN AS A RESULT OF
AN "ON THE JOB" INJURY SUSTAINED WHILE ON HAZARDOUS DUTY
SHALL NOT BE CHARGED TO THE EMPLOYEE'S ACCRUED SICK LEAVE
FOR THE FIRST 12 MONTHS FOLLOWING SUCH AN INJURY,
PROVIDED THAT THE SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF
PERSONNEL SHALL DETERMINE IF THE INJURY FOR WHICH THE
LEAVE WAS TAKEN BY THE EMPLOYEE IS AN INJURY WHICH
OCCURRED IN THE DISCHARGE OF THE PERFORMANCE OF THE
EMPLOYEE AS A STATE POLICEMAN.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.

(House Bill 169)
AN ACT concerning
Local Income Taxes — Change in Municipal
Share Computation
FOR the purpose of requiring that the municipal share of
the local income tax paid to each municipality be an
amount equivalent to a certain percent of the State
income tax liability of the residents of each
municipality; and implementing a hold harmless
provision.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 323(a) of Article 81 - Revenue and
Taxes, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1975
Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
