Law-Enforcement Officers' Bill of Rights
FOR the purpose of altering certain provisions of the law
relating to law-enforcement officers' bill of
rights; clarifying language; providing for the
preemption of certain local legislation; providing
for a certain penalty; and generally relating to
law—enforcement officers1 bill of rights.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 727 through 734, inclusive of
Article 2 7 - Crimes and Punishments, of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1976 Replacement Volume and 1976
Supplement) be and they are hereby repealed and
reenacted, with amendments; and that new Sections 734B,
734C, and 734D be and they are hereby added to this
Article and Code; and all to read as follows:

|
|
|
|
(a) [As used in the] IN THIS subtitle, the
following words have the meanings indicated.
(b) "Law—enforcement officer" means any person
who, in his official capacity, is authorized by law to
make arrests and who is a member of one of the following
law—enforcement agencies:
(1) The Maryland State Police; or
(2) The Baltimore City police department; or
(3) The police department, bureau, or force
of any county; or
(4) The police department, bureau, or force
of any incorporated city or town; or

(5) The office of the sheriff of any county;
