SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 866(a) of Article 43 - Health, of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume
and 1976 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed and
reenacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

|
|
|
|
(a) (1) From January 1, 1976, until July 1,
1977, a license as a social work associate may be issued
without examination to an applicant who satisfies the
Board that he is and actually has been engaged, for at
least two years in the practice of social work and has a
baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or
university.
(2) FROM JULY 1, 1977, UNTIL AUGUST 1, 1978,
A LICENSE AS A SOCIAL WORK ASSOCIATE MAY BE ISSUED TO AN
APPLICANT WHO:
(I) HAS RECEIVED A BACCALAUREATE
DEGREE FROM AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY PRIOR TO
JULY 1, 1976, INCLUDING COMPLETION OF A SOCIAL WORK
PROGRAM ACCREDITED BY THE COUNCIL ON SOCIAL WORK
EDUCATION. WITH REGARD TO THIS REQUIREMENT, THE BOARD BY
REGULATION SHALL PROVIDE GENERAL STANDARDS OF ACCEPTABLE
EQUIVALENTS, INCLUDING COMPLETION OF RELATED ACADEMIC
CURRICULA SUCH AS PSYCHOLOGY AND COUNSELLING.
(II) HAD BEEN ENGAGED IN THE PRACTICE
OF SOCIAL WORK FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR BUT LESS THAN TWO
YEARS PRIOR TO JULY 1, 1977.
(III) HAS PASSED AN EXAMINATION APPROVED
BY THE BOARD FOR THIS PURPOSE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.
|
