AN ACT concerning
Interference in Athletic Events
FOR the purpose of providing that certain persons who
interfere in certain athletic and sporting contests
in a certain manner shall be guilty of a crime;
providing definitions; and providing penalties.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 125 1/2 be and it is hereby
added to Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1976 Replacement Volume and
1976 Supplement) to read as follows:
Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments
125 1/2.
(A) (1) IN THIS SECTION THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE
THE MEANINGS INDICATED:
(2) "COMMERCIAL ATHLETIC CONTEST" MEANS ANY
ATHLETIC OR SPORTING EVENT HELD IN PUBLIC STADIUMS,
ARENAS, FIELDS, OR HALLS OF THIS STATE WHICH HAS AN
ADMISSION CHARGE FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
(3) "OBJECT" MEANS ANY ITEM WHICH, IN THE
OPINION OF THE ARRESTING OFFICER, MAY CAUSE INJURY TO A
PARTICIPANT OR OBSERVER OF THE COMMERCIAL ATHLETIC
CONTEST.
(B) A PERSON WHO DISRUPTS OF INTERFERES WITH A
COMMERCIAL ATHLETIC CONTEST BY THROWING OR PROJECTING AN
OBJECT ONTO THE PLAYING OR SEATING AREA IS GUILTY OF A
MISDEMEANOR AND, UPON CONVICTION, IS SUBJECT TO A FINE
