REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
from Art. 27, §208.
The present penalties established for
violation of this section ($100 and 6 months)
are — by amendment to §27—101(c) of this
article — conformed to the penalties
applicable to the otherwise similar
"antitheft" provisions of Title 20 of this
article (i.e., $500 and 2 months).
The only other changes are in style.
20-106. DUTY ON STRIKING DOMESTIC ANIMAL.
(A) DUTY OF DRIVER.
IN ADDITION TO THE OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THIS TITLE,
IF A MOTOR VEHICLE STRIKES AND INJURES A DOMESTIC ANIMAL,
THE DRIVER OF THE MOTOR VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY SHALL NOTIFY
THE APPROPRIATE STATE OR LOCAL POLICE OF THE ACCIDENT.
(B) POLICE TO NOTIFY APPROPRIATE AGENCY.
ON RECEIPT OF NOTICE UNDER THIS SECTION, THE POLICE
SHALL NOTIFY THE LOCAL ORGANIZATION OR GOVERNMENTAL
AGENCY DESIGNATED BY THE APPROPRIATE LOCAL GOVERNMENT TO
GIVE SUCH INJURED ANIMALS MEDICAL CARE.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
from Art. 27, §61A.
The present, express requirement that the
driver "stop" is deleted as unnecessary in
light of the same requirement established by
§§ 20-103 and 20-105 of this title.
The last sentence of present §61A, which
establishes penalties of up to $50 for
violation of this section, is deleted in
deference to the standard penalty established
by §27-101(b) of this article.
The only other changes are in style.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Sections
27—101 (c) and (d) of Article - Transportation, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (As enacted by Chapter 14 of
the Acts of the General Assembly of 1977) be and they are
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
