SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 77 of the Public Local Laws of St.
Mary's County being Article 19 of the Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1965 Edition and 1974 Supplement, as
amended) be and it is hereby repealed and reenacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
Article 19
77.
[(a)] The County Commissioners are hereby
authorized to pay GRANT FUNDS annually from the general
county funds to the active rescue squads in St. Mary's
County as they shall determine.
[(b) In addition to the above, the County
Commissioners are authorized to pay to any such squad
which has responded to a number of calls in excess of two
hundred in any year, an additional sum of two hundred
dollars ($200) for each one hundred calls responded to in
excess of the first two hundred in such year. Unless the
County Commissioners shall otherwise direct, any
additional sum paid under this subsection shall be used
exclusively for the purchase of medical supplies and the
maintenance of existing equipment, and any squad
receiving any such additional sum shall maintain records
detailing the expenditure thereof which shall always be
open to the inspection of the County Commissioners.]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.
