(Senate Bill 1099)
AN ACT concerning
State Colleges — Dormitory Bed Assessment Fees
FOR the purpose of specifying that dormitory bed
assessment fees, and the interest derived therefrom,
are considered trust funds for the construction of
auxiliary facilities.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 77A — Higher Education

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 12B(c) of Article 77A - Higher
Education, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1975
Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
Article 77A — Higher Education
12B.
In order to provide auxiliary facilities for the
public colleges under its direction and control, the
board of trustees of the State colleges is hereby
authorized and empowered, from time to time:
(c) To fix and revise, from time to time, fees,
rents and other charges for the use of any auxiliary
facility[;]. THE BOARD MAY ESTABLISH A TRUST FUND WITH
THE MONEYS COLLECTED FROM ANY DORMITORY BED ASSESSMENT
FEES WHICH MAY BE IMPOSED PURSUANT TO THIS SUBSECTION,
AND RETAIN THE INTEREST REVENUE THEREON, FOR THE PURPOSE
OF CONSTRUCTING AUXILIARY FACILITIES AT THE STATE
UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES;

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.
