Courts and Judicial Proceedings, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1974 Volume and 1976 Supplement) be and they
are hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
Article — Courts and Judicial Proceedings
2-504.
(a) The clerk of circuit court of a county or
[the] a court of the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City
shall receive an annual salary [of not less than
$10,000 or more than $25,000 $30,000] as set by the
board of public works [on the basis of the relative
volume of business and receipts in his office, provided
that in Baltimore City a clerk's salary may not be less
than $12,000]. WHEN THE CLERK OF EACH COURT ELECTED IN
THE NOVEMBER ELECTION OF 1978 COMMENCES HIS TERM, THE
CLERK OF EACH COURT SHALL RECEIVE AN ANNUAL SALARY AS SET
BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND ANY COST OF LIVING
INCREASES.

|
(b) A clerk shall devote his full working time to
the duties of his office and is entitled to the salary
fixed [and no more] AND ANY COST OF LIVING INCREASES BY
THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS.

|
|
|
|
|
|
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the
provisions of this Act shall not be construed to extend
or apply to the salary of the Clerks of Court in office
on the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of
this Act concerning the salary of the Clerks of Court
shall take effect at the beginning of the next following
term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.

Strip Mining — Revegetation
FOR the purpose of transferring from the State Forester
to the Bureau of Mines responsibility for inspection
of replanted areas, approval of revegetation, and
release of revegetation bonds.
