AN ACT concerning
Caroline County — Contingency Fund
FOR the purpose of providing that the Board of County
Commissioners of Caroline County may by resolution
use the contingency fund for a certain purpose;
providing that the itemized statement of the
contingency fund for the fiscal year prepared by the
County Commissioners shall be published in the
county financial report; and clarifying language.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 24 of the Public Local Laws of
Caroline County being Article 6 of the Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1965 Edition and 1975 Supplement, as
amended) be and it is hereby repealed and reenacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
Article 6
24.
(a) The [said] contingency fund will, it is
expected, seldom be needed or used but is provided as a
safeguard or protection in event an emergency should
arise, and shall be dedicated and appropriated to meet
any unexpected demand which arises after the [said] levy
has been made and the occurrence of which could not
reasonably have been foreseen which is of an unusual,
urgent, and extraordinary nature, and which clearly and
imperatively necessitates the expenditure of money from
this fund; nor shall [said] THE contingency fund or any
part thereof be used for any other purpose whatsoever
except the use [hereinafter] set forth in this section
and the use thereof as a part of the surplus to be
carried over to the ensuing fiscal year as provided by
Section 25 of this subtitle.
(b) The [said] Board of County Commissioners may
by [ordinance] RESOLUTION use the [said] contingency fund
for the purpose of meeting any demand on account of any
estimate for which there may be no money at the time it
is needed for the purpose of the estimate, and when the
revenue for the estimate shall have been received it
shall be credited to the contingency fund.
