earnings of inmates of the Baltimore City Jail, BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments Section 645M Annotated Code of Maryland (1976 Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) BY adding to Article 21 Crimes and Punishments Section 645W (c) Annotated Code of Maryland (1976 Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 645M of Article 27 - Crimes and
Punishments, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1976
Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows: Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments 645M. The earnings of the prisoner shall be collected by
the county probation department, except that for
Allegany, Calvert, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Charles,
Dorchester, Frederick, Garrett, Howard, Kent, Prince
George's, Queen Anne's, St. Mary's, Talbot, Worcester
and Anne Arundel counties [and Baltimore City] they shall
be collected by the State Department of Parole and
Probation. From such earnings the county probation
department or the State Department of Parole and
Probation, as the case may be, shall pay the prisoner's
board and personal expenses, inside the jail and, to the
extent directed by the court, pay the support of his
dependents, if any. Any balance shall be retained and
paid to him upon his discharge. SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That new
Section 645W(c) be and it is hereby added to Article 27 —
Crimes and Punishments, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1976 Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) to read as
follows: Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments 645W. (C) A PRISONER EMPLOYED UNDER A WORK RELEASE PLAN
SHALL SURRENDER TO THE WARDEN OR HIS DESIGNEE HIS TOTAL
EARNINGS, LESS PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS REQUIRED BY LAW. THE
