OR CAUSE TO BE DRIVEN ANY VEHICLE OVER A BRIDGE OR
CULVERT IN VIOLATION OF ANY RESTRICTION IMPOSED UNDER
THIS SECTION. (2)   IN ADDITION TO ANY OTHER PENALTY PROVIDED
BY LAW, ANY OWNER OR PERSON IN CONTROL OF A VEHICLE THAT
IS IN VIOLATION OF ANY RESTRICTION IMPOSED UNDER THIS
SECTION IS LIABLE TO THE STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION OR
THE APPROPRIATE LOCAL AUTHORITY FOR ALL DAMAGES SUSTAINED
BY A BRIDGE, CULVERT, OR HIGHWAY AS A RESULT OF THE
VIOLATION. (3)   IN THE TRIAL OF A PERSON CHARGED WITH A
VIOLATION OF THIS SECTION, ORAL TESTIMONY OF THE
EXISTENCE AND CONTENTS OF SIGNS POSTED AS REQUIRED BY
THIS SECTION IS PRIMA FACIE EVIDENCE OF THE VALIDITY OF
THE RESTRICTIONS STATED ON THEM. REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 893, §100. In subsection (a) of this section, the
specific reference to "wagons, trucks, road
engines, ... threshing machines" is deleted
as superfluous in light of the general
reference to "any vehicle". In subsection (c) of this section, the present
provision that provides for a fine of not less
than $25 and not more than $100 is deleted in
deference to the standard penalties provided
for in Title 27 of this article. The only other changes are in style. Present Art. 89B, §102 which relates to
defacing or injuring signs posted under this
section is deleted in deference to the general
provisions of §21—206 of this article,
prohibiting the tampering with any traffic
control device, and the standard penalties
provided for in Title 27 of this article. 24-207. TESTING OF TRUCKS ON STATE HIGHWAYS. (A)       PERMIT REQUIRED. UNLESS THE PERSON HAS A WRITTEN PERMIT FROM THE
STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION, A PERSON, WHETHER THE OWNER
OF THE VEHICLE, THE PERSON HAVING CHARGE AND CONTROL
OVER THE VEHICLE, OR AN EMPLOYEE OR AGENT OF EITHER,
MAY NOT USE ANY STATE HIGHWAY TO TEST ANY TRUCK,
WHETHER FOR DURABILITY, SPEED, FUEL CONSUMPTION, OR
OTHERWISE. (B)   ISSUANCE OF PERMIT. THE STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION MAY ISSUE A PERMIT
