SUBTITLE 11. MISCELLANEOUS RULES.
21-1101. UNATTENDED MOTOR VEHICLE.
A PERSON DRIVING OR OTHERWISE IN CHARGE OF A MOTOR
VEHICLE MAY NOT LEAVE IT UNATTENDED UNTIL:
(1) THE ENGINE IS STOPPED, THE IGNITION LOCKED, THE
KEY REMOVED, AND THE BRAKE EFFECTIVELY SET; AND
(2) IF THE VEHICLE IS ON A GRADE, THE FRONT WHEELS
ARE TURNED TO THE CURB OR SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66 1/2, §11-1101.
The phrase "leave it unattended" is
substituted for the present "permit it to
stand unattended" to avoid incorporation of
the provisions of §11-160 of this article,
which defines "stand". As presently worded,
the provisions of this section would not apply
to any vehicle that is halted to receive or
discharge passengers, even if left unattended.
It is doubtful that the General Assembly
intended such a result.
The only other changes are in style.
21-1102. LIMITATIONS ON BACKING.
(A) GENERAL CONDITIONS.
THE DRIVER OF A VEHICLE MAY NOT BACK IT UNLESS THE
MOVEMENT CAN BE MADE SAFELY AND WITHOUT INTERFERING WITH
OTHER TRAFFIC.
(B) WHEN BACKING PROHIBITED.
THE DRIVER OF A VEHICLE MAY NOT BACK IT ON ANY
SHOULDER OR ROADWAY OF ANY CONTROLLED ACCESS HIGHWAY.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66 1/2, §11-1102.
The only changes are in style.
21-1103. DRIVING ON SIDEWALK.
(A) DRIVING PROHIBITED.
