In the introductory language of subsection (a)
of this section, the present, specific
reference to a "Type I or Type II" school
vehicle is deleted as unnecessary in light of
the definition of "school vehicle" in §11—154
of this article. Also, the present phrase
"for the purpose of receiving or discharging
passengers" is deleted as misleading since the
driver of the other vehicle would not
necessarily know what the purpose for stopping
is and, as long as the flashing lights are on,
should be required to stop.
In subsection (a)(1) of this section, the
present phrase "come to a full stop" is
deleted as unnecessary in light of the
definition of "stop" in §11-162 of this
article to the same effect.
The only other changes are in style.
Present Art. 66 1/2, §11-706(b), which relates
to the required markings and identification of
school vehicles, is transferred to §22—228 of
this article, which relates to school vehicle
equipment generally.
Present Art. 56 1/2, §11-706(d), which relates
to a school vehicle in a loading zone, also is
transferred to §22—228 of this article; see
revisor's note to that section.
