compensation of each of the Garrett County election board
members in office on the effective date of this Act, but
the provisions of this Act concerning the salary
compensations of each of the Garrett County election
board members shall take effect at the beginning of the
next following term of office,

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.

SECTION 1. BE    IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF

MARYLAND, That new    Section 45A be and it is hereby added

to Article 38A -      Fires and Investigations, of the

Annotated Code of    Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and

1975 Supplement) to read as follows:

Article 38A — Fires and Investigations

45A.

THE [[GOVERNMENT OF EVERY COUNTY SHALL]]

GOVERNMENTS OF KENT AND QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTIES MAY ENACT A
[[PENSION]] SERVICE AWARD PLAN FOR THE VOLUNTEER FIREMEN
IN THE [[COUNTY]] COUNTIES BASED ON LENGTH OF SERVICE.
THE PLAN SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE PRIOR TO JULY 2, 1980.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.
