LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 136

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 2-302 (b) , (c) and (e) of Article
- Agriculture, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1974
Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed
and reenacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

Article — Agriculture

2-302.

[[(a) The State Board of Veterinary Medical
Examiners is created and continued within the
[Department] DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE.

(b) The Board has [seven] FIVE members who SHALL
BE CHOSEN IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:

[(1) Are licensed and registered
veterinarians of the State;

(2)    Are residents of the State;

(3)    Have engaged in active practice for five
years at some time;

(4)    Are in good standing; and

(5)    Are appointed and qualified.]

(1)    THE STATE VETERINARIAN FROM THE
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE WHO SHALL BE CHAIRMAN OF THE
BOARD AND SHALL SERVE AS LONG AS HE OCCUPIES THE POSITION
OF STATE VETERINARIAN OR UNTIL A SUCCESSOR AS STATE
VETERINARIAN IS ELECTED AND QUALIFIED PURSUANT TO SECTION
2-106 OF THIS TITLE;

(2)    THE CHAIRMAN OF THE DEPARTMENT OF
VETERINARY SCIENCE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND WHO
SHALL SERVE AS LONG AS HE OCCUPIES THAT POSITION OR UNTIL
A SUCCESSOR AS HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL SCIENCE

IS ELECTED OR APPOINTED;

(3)    THE DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL
MEDICINE AT JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY WHO SHALL SERVE:

(I)    AS LONG AS HE OCCUPIES THAT
POSITION; OF

(II)   UNTIL A SUCCESSOR AS DIRECTOR OF
THE DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL MEDICINE IS ELECTED OR
APPOINTED;

(4)    A LICENSED AND REGISTERED VETERINARIAN
IN GOOD STANDING WHO:

(I) IS A RESIDENT OF THE STATE AND HAS
ENGAGED IN ACTIVE PRACTICE FOR AT LEAST FIVE YEARS; AND
