VETOES

entitled to the equitable distribution by the Anatomy
Board of bodies which are under its custody and control
(Sections 158 and 160(a)).

For the reasons indicated above, the signing of
House Bill 583 would raise several interpretative
questions and would appear to result in at least one
unintended change in the law. This is not to say that it
is unconstitutional or legally insufficient.

Very truly yours,
Francis B. Burch
Attorney General

House Bill No. 727 - State Police Overtime

AN ACT concerning

State Police — Overtime

FOR the purpose of providing that law enforcement
employees of the Maryland State Police may be paid
overtime in excess of the maximum allowable yearly
amount if funds are available from certain sources;
increasing the maximum yearly overtime amount

allowable for certain employees; and making style

changes.

May 17, 1976.
Honorable John Hanson Briscoe
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill
727.

This bill increases the maximum annual overtime pay
which may be earned by certain members of the Maryland
State Police, and it authorizes the payment of overtime
from certain funds in certain instances.

Senate Bill 748, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 17, 1976, accomplishes
the same purposes as House Bill 727.
