No. 6 7
(House Joint Resolution No. 175)
A House Joint Resolution concerning
Conowingo Power Company
FOR the purpose of requesting that the Federal Power
Commission expedite their hearings in the case of
The Federal Power Commission v. Philadelphia
Electric Company and Conowingo Power Company; and to
request the Federal Power Commission to render a
decision that will alleviate the economic hardship
placed upon the residents of Northeastern Maryland
by an earlier Commission decision.
The imposition of a temporary increase $5,658,000 on
the consumers of Conowingo Power Company has had a

the consumers to be unable to pay their utility bills.
The only protection to the customer in the Stats of
Maryland from overcharges resulting from purchased power
agreements lies in the action of the Federal Power
Commission.
The Federal Power Commission has granted the request
of the Office of the People's Counsel for the State of
Maryland to reopen public hearings in order to review the
Commission's earlier approval of a purchased power
adjustment affecting the citizens of Northeastern
Maryland; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
this Body urges the Federal Power Commission to expedite
its rehearing in the matter of The__Federal Power
Commission v. Philadelphia Electric Company and Conowingo
Power Company and further urges the Commission to render
a decision favorable to the hard-pressed citizens of
Northeastern Maryland; and be it further
