Legislative General Assembly in December 1976; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
this Body requests the [[Governor to appoint a Study

Commission]] [[Consumer Council of the Division of

Consumer Protection, Office of Attorney General]],

Governor to appoint a Study Commission to examine retail
industry advertising sales standards and procedures in
the State of Maryland; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to
the [[Governor of the State of Maryland]] [[Consumer
Council of the Division of Consumer Protection, Office of

Attorney General]] Governor to appoint a Study

Commission; Retail Merchant's Association, [[15 School
Street,]] Annapolis, Maryland; and the Maryland Chamber
of Commerce.

A House Joint Resolution concerning

Energy Conservation

FOR the purpose of requesting the Governor to establish a
committee to design a program to conserve energy by
the State government.

WHEREAS, Sources of energy are a basic unit of
survival for these United States to continue as a free,
powerful, progressive and industrial nation; and

WHEREAS, The cost of energy resources has increased
drastically over the past three years and will continue
to increase for the forseeable future; and

WHEREAS, This nation is     unable at the present to

sustain its energy needs with     its own resources, and

imports more than 25 percent of   its energy resources from
abroad; and

WHEREAS, Dependence on foreign nations for energy
resources is inherently dangerous to the safety and
survival of this nation since the foreign nations are
unpredictable in their supply of energy resources; and

WHEREAS, Research and development of alternate
sources of energy has not realized a program to lessen
this dependence on foreign nations for our energy; and
