be it

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the [[Governor be requested to appoint a commission to
study the State park programs and recommend the
development of the State park sites to fulfill the
recreational needs of the general public, and that the
commission]] Committee On Open Space be requested to

study State park programs and to develop recommendations

for the development of the State park sites to fulfill
the recreational needs of the general public, and that
the Committee be directed to report its findings and
recommendations to the General Assembly of Maryland; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to
the [[Honorable Marvin Mandel, Governor.]] Honorable
Steny H. Hoyer, President, Senate of Maryland, and the
Honorable John Hanson Briscoe, Speaker of the House of
Delegates.

A Senate Joint Resolution concerning

Coordination and Evaluation of Economic
Development Activities in Maryland

FOR the purpose of recommending that the Department of
Economic and Community Development study and make
recommendations for the improvement of the overall
coordination of economic development activities
being carried out by State and local government
economic development organizations and nonprofit
development corporations and major corporations; and
for the establishment of an ongoing program for
monitoring and evaluating such economic development
activities as they relate to the overall economic
development of the State of Maryland.

WHEREAS, In each local subdivision in the State of
Maryland, there exists one or more organizations, whether
a unit of the subdivision's government, a public
nonprofit corporation, or a private voluntary
organization, which engage in planning and executing
programs which are designed to further and enhance the
economic development of their respective localities; and

WHEREAS, Five regions of the State of Maryland,
including the Delmarva Peninsula, Southern Maryland,
